Barre at the Bar Lunch to raise money for breast cancer research, October 24, 2018

“While Rudy and Ron Vale have been hosting an October fund-raiser for four years at their Cohasset restaurant, the Corner Stop Eatery, this is the first time that they’re also having a special luncheon.

The Barre at the Bar luncheon, which will take place at the restaurant Oct. 24 at 10:30 a.m., includes a barre lesson taught by Stacey Hugues and a multicourse meal. There will also be pink wine and bubbly.”  Read More… READ MORE

Our Fourth Annual Breast Cancer Fundraiser Kicks Off October 1st!

IMG_6306   Starting October 1st, we’ll be donating 10% of sales for the entire month of October to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation… So gather up some friends and find any excuse to come in. It’s time to get your pink on!  We’ll also be selling raffle tickets with some cool prizes for a direct donation of $20.  Over the last three years, with your support and enthusiasm, we were able to raise $65,000… and we know we can outdo ourselves! In October of 2014, nearly a year after opening The Corner Stop with my husband Ron, I was stunned to find myself diagnosed with breast cancer after a routine mammogram. DSC_3069a It’s been a journey, but after three surgeries, chemo and radiation, I’ve completed my treatment and am feeling strong and ready to make a difference. 1 in 8 women Is diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime…. our mothers, daughters, wives, and friends…. 1 in 8, and men are not immune.  As with all cancers, early detection is everything. IMG_5090   As I often say, I was the poster child for someone you’d never suspect of getting breast cancer- I don’t smoke, rarely drink, exercise for hours a day, eat well, breast fed both my children, and have cancer nowhere in my family, much less breast cancer… and yet it came knocking. Cancer by its very definition is arbitrary and it’s important to remain vigilant. Fortunately, there is a highly effective screening for breast cancer- a mammogram- but you have to show up. As my radiologist said, I was a textbook case for why they recommend annual mammograms. It was caught early, and I am where I am today because I did just that- I showed up. I’m hoping to use the restaurant and its connection to our local community as a platform for fundraising and awareness. We were the beneficiaries of extraordinary kindness and grace from friends, family, and our community, and we’re ready to pay it forward. Please help us spread the word and join us for what promises to be an incredibly uplifting month at the restaurant.
